Lar City, located in the south of Fars Province, possesses a rich historical background and is situated within a hot and arid climate zone. Following the devastating earthquake of 1960 (1339 in the Iranian calendar), the city was divided into new and old districts. The Fatehi Jewelry Store project is located within the historic fabric, along one of the main passageways of the old city. The design process began with respect for the historical context and a deliberate avoidance of visual disruption to the urban façade.

Given the luxury nature of the function and its operational requirements, the design approach was to conceal the expected spatial quality within a simple and neutral envelope to prevent overshadowing the surrounding historic fabric by the typical ostentation found in such commercial spaces.

Due to the narrow width of the shop, limited product display space, and constant pedestrian presence on the sidewalk, an unconventional approach was adopted for the storefront design. Inspired by the geometry of origami art, the façade was transformed into folding glass panels that not only provide multiple viewing angles for pedestrians and passing vehicles but also, through their prismatic form, evoke the cut of a diamond—one of the primary elements in jewelry valuation.

The interior space is divided into public and private zones. The public area continues the geometric language of the exterior façade in its display shelves and showcases, while the opposite wall employs colored glass that both reflects light and offers high resistance to scratches. The private section, located at the rear of the space, accommodates security features such as a safe as well as workshop areas dedicated to jewelry manufacturing and repair.

The Fatehi Jewelry Store project represents a deliberate effort to strike a balance between historical memory, functional requirements, and contemporary expression—a place where tradition and modernity do not clash but engage in an intelligent dialogue.
